Third-party reviews

What we like about Polar Vantage M3

  • Blood oxygen and wrist ECG are both built in.
  • Dual-frequency GPS keeps tracks accurate on technical trails.
  • Training Load Pro splits strain into cardio, muscle and perceived load.
  • Offline maps show your route on the watch.
  • Hill Splitter tracks climbs and descents automatically.
  • 32 GB of internal storage gives room for maps and workouts.

What we don't like about Polar Vantage M3

  • Heart rate can lag a few seconds on hill repeats and short intervals.
  • There is no music storage, so you need your phone to play music.
  • There is no contactless payment and no wireless charging.
  • The Polar Flow app feels dated and can be hard to navigate.
  • The 1.28 inch screen is small for reading maps.

Verdict

Blood oxygen and wrist ECG are the uncommon extras that make the Polar Vantage M3 stand out. Its dual-band GPS keeps tracks accurate on technical trails, and the AMOLED screen stays readable in direct sunlight. Training Load Pro splits strain into cardio, muscle and perceived load, which helps runners who want more than a step count. It is light at 53 g with the strap. Battery is rated at 27 h with GPS, and about 30 hours in tests. The trade-offs are the software and the music. The Polar Flow app feels dated, the watch cannot store music, and it cannot pay by phone. Its heart rate can lag a few seconds on hill repeats. It suits a runner who trains outdoors, likes detail from every session and carries a phone anyway.
