Core Principles

The Three Pillars of Our Ranking Engine

Traditional review sites rely on subjective opinions or sponsored placements. Frontumo uses a multi-layered algorithmic system designed to eliminate bias.

1. Technical Specification Matrix

Every product is broken down into dozens of standardized, unit-normalized parameters. Attributes are dynamically weighted based on user intent and real-world utility — measuring what truly matters in daily use.

Normalized & Weighted

2. Multi-Locale Review Damping

We aggregate tens of thousands of verified customer reviews across international markets. Our logarithmic popularity cap prevents mass-market budget items with high volume from artificially outranking superior products.

Logarithmic Popularity Cap

3. Expert Synthesis & Value Index

Authoritative lab benchmarks and specialist evaluations are synthesized into verified pros and cons. We calculate a live price-to-performance index comparing actual market prices to overall technical scores.

How the Overall Score is Calculated

Every product in our catalog receives an impartial overall score from 1.0 to 10.0 points. We pair objective technical engineering with massive verified consumer consensus to ensure absolute reliability.

Technical Score & User Score Calibration

Traditional review sites rely on subjective reviewer feelings or sponsored rankings. Frontumo evaluates products through two distinct, mathematically weighted components that add up to 100%:

Technical Score (typically 60% – 80% weight): Evaluates standardized lab benchmarks, verified manufacturer specifications, and functional utility normalized across competing models.
User Score & Sentiment (typically 10% – 40% weight, set per category): Measures buyer satisfaction from the star ratings and review counts on product listings in large online shops.
Mathematical Calculation Example: In a category calibrated with a 70% technical weight and 30% user weight, a product with a Technical Score of 9.0 and a User Score of 4.0 achieves an overall score of 7.5 points:
(9.0 × 0.70) + (4.0 × 0.30) = 7.50 Overall Score
Overall Score weighting: Technical Score vs User ScoreOverall score composition: Technical benchmark vs. buyer ratings

How the User Score & Sentiment is Evaluated

We combine the star ratings and review counts from product listings in large online shops. The shops differ by product and country. Each shop has its own review rules; we do not check whether every reviewer bought the product.

70% User ratings: The average star rating across all listings of the product, weighted by how many reviews each listing has.
30% Number of reviews: The number of reviews, mapped on a logarithmic curve that reaches full points at the top 8% of the category. Beyond that cap, extra reviews add nothing, so cheap mass-market items with tens of thousands of reviews cannot crowd out better models with fewer reviews.

User scores are recalculated each time we refresh the ratings.

How the Quality-to-Price Ratio is Calculated

The quality-price ratio evaluates whether a product's real-world performance justifies its price tag. It combines the product's overall quality score (50%) with its normalized category price score (50%).

Price scores scale from 1 to 10 within each specific category: 1 represents the lowest cost and 10 the highest. By standardizing prices against all market alternatives, our index highlights budget champions that punch above their weight and verifies whether premium models justify their premium cost.

Exhaustive Coverage & Editorial Independence

In our comparisons, we aim to cover as many products available on the global market as possible, providing comprehensive market coverage and actionable recommendations for everyday shoppers.

We maintain strict editorial independence: our calculations are 100% automated and algorithmic. We do not accept free review units, sponsored listings, or manufacturer incentives. Every score is derived objectively and uniformly across all brands.
