What we like about Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

  • Durable titanium build with military-grade (MIL-STD-810H) ruggedness
  • Extremely bright 3,000-nit AMOLED display for excellent sunlight visibility
  • Improved battery life over standard Galaxy Watch models, typically lasting 2–3 days
  • Highly accurate dual-frequency GPS and updated heart rate sensors
  • Useful customizable 'Quick Button' for shortcuts to workouts or emergency siren
  • Comprehensive health and sleep tracking with AI-powered insights

What we don't like about Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

  • High price tag compared to the nearly feature-identical Galaxy Watch 7
  • Large and bulky 'cushion' design that may be uncomfortable on smaller wrists
  • Removal of the signature physical rotating bezel found on 'Classic' models
  • Slow charging speeds (approximately 2 hours for a full charge)
  • Exclusive features like ECG and blood pressure monitoring require a Samsung phone
  • Loss of 'Wireless PowerSharing' compatibility due to the new sensor design

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is a rugged, 47mm premium smartwatch featuring a durable Grade 4 Titanium case and a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display protected by Sapphire Crystal with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Powered by the 3nm Exynos W1000 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, it includes a 590mAh battery that lasts up to 100 hours in power-saving mode or approximately 48 hours with regular use. Key characteristics include 10ATM and IP68 water resistance, MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability, and a customizable Quick Button alongside dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) for precise tracking. Its main pros are the ultra-bright screen, enhanced BioActive sensor for accurate heart rate and sleep apnea detection, and advanced Galaxy AI health insights like the Energy Score. However, notable cons include its high price point, bulky design that may not suit smaller wrists, and limited compatibility since several advanced health features require a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
