What we like about Huawei Watch Ultimate

  • Premium build quality featuring a zirconium-based liquid metal case and sapphire crystal glass for exceptional durability.
  • Outstanding 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display with peak brightness up to 3,500 nits, ensuring excellent visibility in direct sunlight.
  • Excellent battery life, typically lasting 8 to 14 days depending on usage, significantly outperforming many high-end competitors.
  • Professional-grade diving capabilities, including water resistance up to 100–150m and specialised diving computer features.
  • Comprehensive health and fitness tracking, including advanced ECG, arterial stiffness, and a high-performance 'Expedition Mode' for hikers.
  • Versatile design that transitions well from rugged outdoor use to formal occasions with included metal and rubber straps.

What we don't like about Huawei Watch Ultimate

  • High price point that makes it hard to justify for users who do not require its niche diving or expedition features.
  • Limited smart ecosystem with a lack of third-party app support and no native music streaming services like Spotify.
  • No NFC payment support (contactless payments) in many regions, which is a major omission for a luxury smartwatch.
  • Large and bulky 48.5mm case size that can feel overwhelming or look out of place on smaller wrists.
  • Inconsistent accuracy in heart rate and GPS tracking reported by some reviewers during high-intensity workouts.
  • Software limitations such as a lack of standalone LTE/cellular support and limited customisation for watch faces.

Verdict

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is a premium, adventure-focused smartwatch featuring a high-durability zirconium-based liquid metal case, a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display protected by 2.35mm thick sapphire glass, and a nano-tech ceramic bezel. Key technical specifications include a 100-meter (10 ATM) water resistance certification (EN13319), dual-band five-system GNSS for precise tracking, and advanced health sensors for ECG, SpO2, and arterial stiffness detection. Its main pros are a luxury design that resembles traditional high-end timepieces, an industry-leading battery life reaching up to 14 days (or 8 days under heavy use), and specialized professional modes for deep-sea diving and expeditions. Notable cons include its significant 48.5mm size which may be too bulky for smaller wrists, the lack of cellular/LTE connectivity, and limited third-party app support and contactless payment options outside of the Huawei ecosystem.
