  • Highly accurate GPS tracking, including multi-band GNSS for improved positioning in challenging environments.
  • The built-in LED flashlight is widely praised as an unexpectedly useful and versatile feature.

  • Responsive touchscreen that complements traditional button controls for easier map navigation.

What we don't like about Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar

  • The 51mm case size is very large and may feel too chunky or unwieldy on smaller wrists.
  • The MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) display is less vibrant and has lower resolution compared to modern AMOLED screens.
  • High premium price point makes it a significant investment that may be overkill for casual users.
  • The user interface and menu system can be complex and confusing to navigate for new users.
  • Wrist-based optical heart rate monitoring can still lag during high-intensity interval training compared to chest straps.

Verdict

The Garmin fēnix 7X Sapphire Solar is a high-performance 51mm multisport GPS watch featuring a 1.4-inch sunlight-visible, transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) touchscreen with a 280 x 280 pixel resolution. Its rugged titanium construction includes a scratch-resistant Power Sapphire solar charging lens that extends battery life up to 37 days in smartwatch mode or 122 hours in GPS mode. Key features include a built-in LED flashlight, multi-band GNSS for superior positioning accuracy, preloaded TopoActive maps, and 32GB of internal storage for up to 2,000 songs. Main pros highlighted by experts include its industry-leading battery longevity, exceptionally durable build, and precise tracking metrics for over 30 built-in sports apps. However, common cons include its bulky profile, which may feel unwieldy on smaller wrists, a display that lacks the vibrant clarity of AMOLED screens, and a relatively high price point that may be overkill for casual users.
