Verdict
Ameta S20 is a simple, fun, affordable beginner drone, but its 720p camera and jerky footage are real limits.

Third-party reviews

What we like about Ameta S20

  • About 25 minutes from a 3000 mAh battery
  • GPS return-to-home, follow-me and waypoints
  • Light 185 g foldable design
  • Brushless motors for steadier flight
  • 4K recording at a low price

What we don't like about Ameta S20

  • No gimbal, so footage is not stabilised
  • Short Wi-Fi range of about 300 m
  • Not suited to long-distance flights
  • Lesser-known brand

Verdict

The Ameta S20 is a foldable GPS drone for children and adults that pairs a large 3000 mAh battery with a light 185 g body. That combination gives a rated flight time of about 25 minutes, well above typical toy drones. GPS adds return-to-home, follow-me tracking and waypoint flights, so the drone can find its way back if the signal weakens or the battery runs low. Brushless motors make it steadier and more durable than brushed rivals. The camera records 4K, but without a gimbal the footage moves with the drone, and the Wi-Fi link has a short range of about 300 m. Staying well under 250 g keeps it easy to carry and simpler to fly in many places. For families who want GPS safety and long flights on a modest budget, the S20 is a solid pick.
