Verdict
COROS Pace Pro is a performance watch with dependable GPS and offline maps, though its always-on screen shows less detail to save battery.

Third-party reviews

What we like about Coros Pace Pro

  • Battery rated for 20 days means very few charges.
  • Up to 38 h with GPS on covers a long day of tracking.
  • Dual-frequency GPS keeps tracks clean near tall buildings and trees.
  • Offline topographic maps with back-to-start guidance help you find the way.
  • The 1500 nits screen stays easy to read in bright light.
  • The wrist raise wakes the screen almost every time.

What we don't like about Coros Pace Pro

  • The heart rate sensor drifts during very short, hard intervals, so a chest strap is advised.
  • Always-on screen mode shows less detail to save battery.
  • A full charge takes 120 min.
  • No contactless payment on the watch.
  • The plastic body and mineral glass are less tough than adventure watches.

Verdict

Charging rarely comes up with the Coros Pace Pro, which is rated for 20 days and 38 h with GPS on. In tests the GPS locks quickly and holds its track between tall buildings, thanks to its dual-frequency mode. The screen is bright at 1500 nits, and the watch has offline topographic maps, so you can find a route without a phone. It also has ECG for heart checks, and a full charge takes 120 min. The trade-off is the wrist heart rate sensor, which drifts during very short, hard intervals, so a chest strap helps. The 46 mm width makes it large on small wrists. It suits a runner or hiker who wants a watch that lasts for weeks, with real maps, and does not need contactless payments.
