The Amazfit Cheetah is a solid sports watch whose GPS and heart-rate readings closely matched a Garmin, though its crown scrolls too fast and cannot be slowed.

Third-party reviews

What we like about Amazfit Cheetah

  • Battery lasts 14 days on one charge.
  • With GPS on, it runs for 13 h, enough for a long hike.
  • At 32 g without the strap, it is light for long runs.
  • Heart rate peaks came within 1 bpm of a chest strap in tests.
  • Offline maps can be loaded onto the watch.
  • It has 150 exercise modes, including a swim mode.

What we don't like about Amazfit Cheetah

  • At 47 mm wide, it looks large on a slim wrist.
  • The always-on display drains the battery noticeably.
  • The crown scrolls too fast, and there is no slower setting.
  • Few third-party apps are available, mostly for sport and health.
  • GPS is much less accurate under tree cover than in open sky.

Verdict

Runners and hikers who want a watch that lasts days will like the Amazfit Cheetah. It runs 14 days on one charge, and with GPS switched on it still lasts 13 h. Dual-frequency GPS is rare on watches like this, and in tests a run of over 35 km came out very close to a Garmin Forerunner 255. Heart rate peaks came within 1 bpm of a chest strap in tests, and it weighs only 32 g without the strap, so a long run does not feel heavy. The trade-off is the case: at 47 mm wide it looks big on a slim wrist, and the always-on screen drains the battery noticeably. It suits someone who wants a light watch for days outdoors and cares more about battery than looks.
