What we like about Amazfit Active Edge

  • Long-lasting battery life, often reaching 10-16 days under typical use
  • Rugged and stylish design reminiscent of classic Casio G-Shock watches
  • Fast and accurate GPS connection compared to other budget models
  • Lightweight and comfortable for daily wear and during workouts
  • Strong water resistance (10 ATM), making it suitable for swimming and showering
  • User-friendly Zepp companion app with comprehensive health tracking

What we don't like about Amazfit Active Edge

  • Lack of an AMOLED panel and Always-On Display (AOD) functionality
  • Inaccurate sleep tracking, particularly in identifying awake times
  • Non-replaceable watch band and a plastic buckle prone to breaking
  • Slow 'raise-to-wake' response, which can be frustrating during active runs
  • Missing smart features found in cheaper models, such as a voice assistant (Zepp Flow) and Bluetooth calling
  • Health reports and some advanced AI features are locked behind expensive paywalls

Verdict

The Amazfit Active Edge is a rugged 46mm smartwatch featuring a 1.32-inch TFT touchscreen (360x360 resolution) and a durable dual-color plastic body with a 10 ATM water-resistance rating. It is equipped with five satellite positioning systems for accurate GPS tracking, a BioTracker PPG sensor for 24-hour monitoring of heart rate, SpO2, and stress, and support for over 130 sports modes including AI-driven guidance via Zepp Coach. Main pros include its impressive battery life of up to 16 days in typical use (24 days in battery saver mode), responsive interface, and high-quality build at an affordable price point. However, it lacks an always-on display, does not support Bluetooth calling or internal music storage, and reviewers have noted that its sleep tracking can be inconsistent while the proprietary strap buckle feels less premium than the watch itself.
