The Nikon D5000 is an entry-level digital camera that replaces the older D80 model. It shares many features with the more expensive D90 camera, including a sharp 12.3-megapixel sensor and a fast 11-point focus system. On the plus side, this camera takes beautiful pictures with great colours and handles low-light settings very well. It is also very fast, capturing up to 4 photos per second, which makes it great for taking pictures of kids, pets, and sports. Another helpful feature is its unique screen that can flip down and swivel around to help you take photos from creative angles. However, the camera has some design problems. The view window you look through to frame your shot is small and dim. The swivel screen itself can be very hard to see when you are out in direct sunlight, and it looks a bit blurry. It is also too easy to accidentally hit the back buttons and move your focus point by mistake. Finally, while the camera can record video, the movie quality is not very sharp or smooth.
