What we like about realme 14 Pro Plus (12GB + 512GB)

  • Premium, sleek, and durable design with quad-curved display and high IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance ratings.
  • Stunning and bright 120Hz OLED display with slim bezels and good visibility in direct sunlight.
  • Versatile and high-quality camera performance, especially the 50MP main sensor and 3x periscope telephoto lens, which produce detailed photos in various lighting conditions.
  • Excellent battery life from the large 6,000mAh capacity battery, often lasting a full day with heavy use or a day and a half with moderate use.
  • Fast 80W SUPERVOOC charging capability that can fully charge the large battery quickly.
  • Solid everyday performance and multitasking capabilities thanks to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and ample RAM/storage options.
  • Unique design elements like the cold-sensitive color-changing back panel on the Pearl White variant.
  • Runs on Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0 out of the box, offering a user-friendly interface with useful AI features.
  • Good value for money, often described as a well-rounded mid-range phone that offers flagship-level features.

What we don't like about realme 14 Pro Plus (12GB + 512GB)

  • Mediocre and shallow-sounding speaker quality, with limited bass.
  • Presence of pre-installed bloatware apps which can detract from the user experience.
  • Some users reported performance issues, lag, stuttering animations, and occasional overheating, sometimes following a software update.
  • Limited to only two years of major Android updates and three years of security patches, which is less than some competitors.
  • No HDR video support on the display or for recording, despite the high-quality OLED panel.
  • The camera's video quality is considered average at best, and some users reported a degradation in photo quality after specific updates.
  • Lack of a microSD card slot for expandable storage and absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • Performance is solid but not top-tier for high-end gaming compared to some competitors in the same price segment.
  • Charging speed in some tests did not meet the full potential of the advertised 80W and a charger may not be included in the box in some regions (e.g., EU).

Verdict

The Realme 14 Pro Plus (12GB + 512GB variant) is a premium mid-range 5G smartphone running Android 15, featuring a 6.83-inch 1.5K quad-curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It is powered by the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and an Adreno 710 GPU, offering smooth performance and 5G connectivity. A key strength is its versatile triple rear camera system, including a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, along with a 32MP autofocus selfie camera capable of 4K video recording. The device packs a large 6000mAh Si/C battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging and boasts a high IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance rating, making it very durable. A notable con is the presence of some pre-installed bloatware, and the ultrawide camera quality is a noticeable step down from the other lenses. Additionally, in some markets, the charger is not included in the box, and the audio from the stereo speakers can be slightly muddy.
