Third-party reviews

What we like about Suunto Run

  • 36 g makes it light enough to wear day and night.
  • Dual-frequency GPS holds signal under tree cover and in steep canyons.
  • The fabric strap does not stick when you sweat.
  • Buttons work with sweaty hands or gloves.
  • VO2 max and HRV tracking give useful numbers for training.
  • The breadcrumb trail leads you back to the start of a route.

What we don't like about Suunto Run

  • No map support, so navigation depends on loaded routes.
  • Third-party apps are not supported on the watch.
  • GPS mode drains the battery, with 20 h per charge.
  • Heart rate can lag in short intervals and sprints.
  • At 46 mm wide, the case is noticeable on small wrists.

Verdict

Light and thin, the Suunto Run is built for runners who want training data without extra gadgets. At 36 g, with a 46 mm width and a soft fabric strap, you often forget you are wearing it. Dual-frequency GPS keeps the route accurate between tall buildings and under dense trees. Training load and HRV tracking help a runner judge how hard to push. The catch is battery in GPS mode: 20 h, far shorter than the 12 days on a charge. There are no maps and no third-party apps, so navigation relies on loaded routes and a breadcrumb trail. The charge takes 120 min, so plan a top-up before a big week. It suits a runner who trains with a plan and mostly stays on known routes.
