What we like about Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro

  • Exceptional battery life, often lasting 7-14 days depending on usage.
  • Premium build quality featuring titanium and ceramic materials with sapphire glass.
  • Highly accurate dual-band GPS and comprehensive sports tracking, especially for golf and diving.
  • Bright, crisp AMOLED display with good visibility even in direct sunlight.
  • Wide array of health monitoring tools, including medical-grade ECG and arterial stiffness monitoring.
  • Fast charging capabilities, reaching 100% in about 60 minutes.

What we don't like about Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro

  • Lack of support for contactless payments (NFC) in major regions like the UK and US.
  • Limited third-party app ecosystem compared to Wear OS or watchOS.
  • Reduced functionality when paired with iOS, such as lack of text replies and map navigation.
  • No standalone connectivity options like Wi-Fi or eSIM.
  • Fiddly ECG measurements that require precise finger contact.
  • Lack of popular music streaming apps like Spotify or YouTube Music for offline listening.

Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro is a premium smartwatch available in a 46mm titanium alloy or 42mm nanocrystal ceramic build, featuring a sharp 1.43-inch or 1.32-inch AMOLED display with sapphire glass protection. It introduces the TruSense 6.0 system for enhanced health monitoring, including ECG analysis, arterial stiffness detection, and 24/7 heart rate and SpO2 tracking, alongside a dual-band Sunflower Positioning System that boosts GPS accuracy by up to 40%. Key advantages include a class-leading battery life of up to 14 days, IP69K-rated durability for 40m freediving, and specialized pro-level modes for golf with 3D course maps and trail running. However, it is limited by a sparse third-party app ecosystem, the lack of NFC contactless payments in many regions, and restricted functionality when paired with iOS devices.
