  • 16 physical cores handle many demanding programs at once.
  • The 5.2 GHz boost clock keeps single tasks quick.
  • DDR4 and DDR5 support means older RAM can be reused.
  • A 65 W base power keeps everyday running fairly modest.
  • Memory capacity up to 192 GB suits very large projects.
  • The big.LITTLE design moves light tasks onto the efficient cores.

What we don't like about Intel Core i7-13700F

  • No integrated graphics, so a separate graphics card is required.
  • Boost power of 219 W asks a lot of the cooler and power supply.
  • The multiplier is locked, so the chip cannot be overclocked.
  • Two memory channels limit how fast memory-heavy jobs move data.
  • Efficient cores have a base clock of 1.5 GHz, so background work on them is slow.

Verdict

Sixteen physical cores make the Intel Core i7-13700F a strong pick for heavy work like video editing and rendering. It scores 37724 in PassMark multi-core tests, and the 5.2 GHz boost clock keeps single-task speed high too. The chip mixes eight performance cores with eight efficient ones, and it supports both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, so you can reuse older RAM. The trade-off is that it has no integrated graphics, so you need a separate graphics card to get a picture. Under load it can draw up to 219 W for short bursts, which asks more of the power supply and the cooler. It suits someone building a desktop for editing, streaming or many open programs at once, who already plans to buy a graphics card.
