What we like about Canon EOS Rebel T6

  • Affordable entry-level price point for beginners
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC for easy photo sharing to smartphones
  • Produces high-quality JPEGs with pleasant color straight out of the box
  • Lightweight and compact design makes it easy to carry all day
  • Excellent battery life, offering around 500 shots per charge
  • Access to a vast ecosystem of Canon EF and EF-S lenses

What we don't like about Canon EOS Rebel T6

  • Dated 18MP sensor lags behind more modern 24MP competitors
  • Poor autofocus performance in video and Live View mode
  • Fixed rear LCD screen lacks tilt, swivel, or touch support
  • Slow burst shooting rate of only 3 frames per second
  • Noticeable image noise at higher ISO settings compared to rivals
  • Lack of an external microphone input for better video audio

Verdict

The Canon EOS Rebel T6 is an entry-level DSLR featuring an 18.0-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor paired with a DIGIC 4+ image processor, offering a native ISO range of 100–6400 (expandable to 12800). It includes a 9-point autofocus system with a center cross-type point, 3.0 fps continuous shooting, and 1080p Full HD video recording at up to 30 fps. Main pros include built-in Wi-Fi and NFC for easy sharing, a lightweight 485g body, and a high-resolution 920,000-dot LCD screen. However, its downsides include a dated sensor with limited dynamic range, lacks a touchscreen or articulating display, and suffers from painfully slow autofocus when using Live View or recording video.
