  • Large, vibrant 1.64-inch AMOLED display with punchy colours and good brightness.
  • Comprehensive fitness tracking including 95+ sports modes and 12 animated on-device workout courses.
  • Long battery life, typically lasting between 7 to 10 days on a single charge.
  • Slim, lightweight, and comfortable design that is easy to wear all day and night.
  • Fast charging capabilities, reaching up to 70% in 30 minutes.
  • Accurate heart rate and sleep monitoring (including REM sleep analysis).

What we don't like about Honor Watch Es

  • No built-in (untethered) GPS; requires a connected smartphone for distance tracking.
  • Limited 'smart' features: notifications are read-only with no ability to reply or view emojis.
  • No third-party app support or local music storage.
  • Proprietary LiteOS can feel restrictive compared to Wear OS or Apple Watch.
  • Enabling the Always-On Display (AOD) significantly reduces battery life by about half.
  • Some connectivity issues reported with newer Android phones or the latest app versions.
  • Plastic build quality may feel less premium to some users.

Verdict

The Honor Watch ES is a fitness-oriented smartwatch featuring a vibrant 1.64-inch AMOLED rectangular display with a resolution of 456x280 and 326 PPI. It stands out for its lightweight 21g design and comprehensive health suite, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring via TruSeen 4.0, SpO2 blood oxygen tracking, sleep monitoring, and stress testing. A major highlight is its 12 animated fitness courses and 95 workout modes, supported by a battery that lasts up to 10 days on a single charge with fast-charging capabilities that reach 70% in just 30 minutes. However, it lacks built-in GPS, relying instead on a connected smartphone, and its LiteOS platform does not support third-party apps or the ability to respond directly to notifications.
