  • Excellent value for money and highly affordable for an entry-level device.
  • Long-lasting battery life, with many users reporting 7-10 days of typical use and up to 2 weeks on a single charge.
  • Stylish, slim, and lightweight design that mimics more expensive smartwatches.
  • Easy setup process and user-friendly companion app (H Band).
  • Effective IP68 water resistance, suitable for wearing in the shower or rain.

What we don't like about Blackview R8

  • Inaccurate fitness tracking, particularly with step counts and sleep monitoring discrepancies.
  • Mixed build quality, with reports of straps breaking or screens failing after a few months.
  • Occasional connectivity issues where the watch may disconnect from the smartphone.
  • Limited customization options, specifically a small selection of available watch faces.
  • Potential for critical hardware failure, such as battery swelling or display flickering over time.

Verdict

The Blackview R8 is a lightweight, circular smartwatch featuring a 1.09-inch TFT-LCD colour display with a 240x240 resolution, housed in a slim 8.8mm zinc alloy or resin case. It is designed for active users with IP68 water resistance up to 20 metres and supports 25 sports modes along with 24/7 heart rate monitoring, SpO2 blood oxygen detection, and sleep tracking. Its main pros include an impressive battery life of up to 10 days for typical use (45 days on standby), a comfortable 23g design, and extensive notification support for calls and SMS. However, some users have noted cons such as the lack of built-in GPS, limited watch face customisation, and occasional inaccuracies in step counting or sleep tracking data.
