What we like about Umidigi Uwatch

  • Excellent value for money and looks more expensive than its actual cost
  • Stylish and solid build quality with an aircraft-grade aluminum frame in several models
  • Impressive battery life, typically lasting between 7 to 15 days on a single charge
  • Fast charging capabilities, with some models reaching full power in 20-30 minutes
  • Highly customisable with over 100 watch faces available through the app
  • Comprehensive health tracking features, including heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring
  • Strong water resistance (5 ATM), making it suitable for swimming and rain

What we don't like about Umidigi Uwatch

  • Display limitations, such as low brightness making it difficult to read in direct sunlight
  • Screen design 'illusion' where a square display is housed within a circular watch face, creating large bezels
  • Inconsistent accuracy in step counting and sleep tracking reported by some users
  • Basic app experience (Da Fit or Go Fit) that lacks deep data analysis compared to competitors
  • Software issues, including difficulty seeing full messages or the message app failing to work
  • Long installation times for downloading and applying new watch faces
  • Lack of advanced features like built-in GPS or automatic workout detection in base models

Verdict

The Umidigi Uwatch is an affordable, entry-level smartwatch featuring a circular 1.33-inch TFT-IPS display with 2.5D curved tempered glass and a durable full-metal unibody made of 316L stainless steel. Powered by the Nordic nRF52832 chipset, it includes essential health tracking tools such as a heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, and pedometer, alongside support for multiple sport modes and IP67-rated water resistance. Key advantages include its lightweight design, customizable watch faces, and an impressive battery life that offers 7 to 10 days of active use or up to 25 days on standby from a 180mAh cell. However, notable drawbacks include the lack of a full touchscreen (utilizing a single-point touch key instead), limited outdoor visibility due to low screen brightness, and the absence of built-in GPS and a speaker for answering calls directly.
