What we like about Samsung WB2200F Smart Camera

  • Impressive 60x optical zoom lens with a very wide 20mm starting angle
  • Dual-grip design for comfortable handling in both landscape and portrait orientations
  • Excellent battery life, often rated for up to 600 shots per charge
  • Comprehensive wireless connectivity including Wi-Fi and NFC for easy sharing
  • Solid optical image stabilization, essential for high zoom levels
  • Effective Macro mode capable of focusing as close as 1cm

What we don't like about Samsung WB2200F Smart Camera

  • Slow and sometimes unreliable autofocus, especially at the telephoto end
  • Small 1/2.3" sensor leads to subpar image quality in low light
  • Significant image noise and loss of detail at ISO settings above 800
  • Low-resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF) that lacks an automatic eye sensor
  • Limited video controls and no support for 1080/60p recording
  • Bulky body similar in size to a DSLR but without the corresponding sensor performance

Verdict

The Samsung WB2200F is a uniquely designed bridge camera featuring a 16.3-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a massive 60x optical zoom lens, providing an expansive focal range equivalent to 20–1200mm. Its standout characteristic is a dual-grip body inspired by professional DSLRs, which includes a vertical shutter button for comfortable portrait shooting and houses a large battery capable of delivering up to 600 shots per charge. Key pros include excellent wireless connectivity through Wi-Fi and NFC, built-in optical image stabilization, and an 8fps continuous shooting speed. However, notable cons include slow autofocus performance at maximum zoom, the lack of RAW file support, and image quality that suffers significantly at high ISO settings above 800.
