Summary of the review

Third-party reviews

What we like about Olympus VR-330

  • Extremely compact and lightweight design, ideal for everyday use and street photography.
  • Excellent value for money for a superzoom camera (24-300mm equivalent lens).
  • Responsive autofocus capable of tracking moving subjects.
  • 3.0 inch high resolution LCD display (460K dots) offers good image display.
  • Fast shooting speed, suitable for capturing action photos.

What we don't like about Olympus VR-330

  • The camera is not tropicalized, so it is not suitable for use in adverse or dusty weather conditions.
  • Lack of built-in wireless connectivity for quick image transfer.
  • Image quality tends to drop in low light conditions (high ISO).

Verdict

The Olympus VR-330 is a compact superzoom camera featuring a 14.0-megapixel CCD sensor and a versatile 12.5x optical zoom lens with a 24-300mm equivalent focal range. Housed in a slim, full-metal body weighing just 158g, it includes a 3.0-inch 460k-dot LCD, sensor-shift image stabilisation, and 720p HD video recording. Key advantages include its remarkably portable design, 3D photo mode, and built-in HDMI output for easy TV playback. However, it is limited by a lacks of RAW file support, no manual exposure or focus controls, and relatively poor performance in low-light conditions due to its small 1/2.3-inch sensor and limited ISO range up to 1600.
