Third-party reviews

What we like about Withings ScanWatch Nova

  • Battery life of 35 days, or about three weeks in testing, means very few charges.
  • An ECG takes 30 seconds and warns about irregular heart rhythms.
  • Analog hands make it look like a traditional watch.
  • A readiness score shows how ready your body is for the day.
  • Heart rate, HRV and skin temperature are tracked alongside sleep and blood oxygen.
  • Reminders are low-key, with no pressure to close rings or go for a run.

What we don't like about Withings ScanWatch Nova

  • No built-in GPS, so your phone must come along for routes.
  • The 0.63 inch screen has no touch input.
  • Heart rate can take 5 to 10 minutes to catch up in kettlebell workouts.
  • No call control or camera remote.
  • The watch works only between 5 and 35 °C, so very cold or very hot conditions are out of range.

Verdict

Rated for 35 days, the battery is the main reason to pick the Withings ScanWatch Nova. In testing it lasted closer to three weeks with health tracking on. It has analog hands and a small OLED display, so it looks like a classic watch on the wrist. Inside, it records an ECG in 30 seconds, measures blood oxygen and tracks sleep, heart rate and skin temperature. Its 100 m water rating means swimming is no concern. The trade-off is the 0.63 inch screen, which has no touch input, so everything happens with the crown and buttons. It also has no call control and no GPS, so your phone must come along for routes. It suits someone who wants a traditional watch, careful health tracking and very few trips to the charger.
