What owners say about the Huawei Watch GT

Based on 188 owners sharing their experience in online comments

51%positive19%mixed30%negative

Owners praise exceptional battery life and classic design, while limited smart features and customization drive many complaints.

What owners dislike

  • Apps and smartwatch features are very limited: no third-party apps, no replies or call handling, and only basic notifications.27
  • Watch faces are few and cannot be added or edited, and the phone app does not let owners create or download new ones.18
  • Heart-rate readings can stop or look wrong during workouts, and the watch does not pair with external chest straps.14
  • Call and message alerts often fail to appear, and WhatsApp notifications are unreliable, especially when paired with Android phones.13
  • The interface is slow and laggy, and some owners report freezes, black screens and bugs after software updates.13
  • There is no music control and no onboard storage for music, so the watch cannot play or manage songs.10
  • The watch disconnects when moved away from the phone and often does not reconnect automatically, needing a manual reconnect in the app.9
  • Owners cannot reply to messages from the watch, so it only shows notifications and they must use the phone to respond.8
  • The watch does not sync with Strava or export workouts to other sports apps, which frustrates owners who use them.7
  • Step and calorie counts often differ from the phone and from other apps, and counts can double when phone and watch both track steps.6

Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT is a fitness-focused smartwatch featuring a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 454 x 454 resolution and a slim 10.6mm stainless steel and ceramic body. It is powered by LiteOS and includes 16MB RAM, 128MB ROM, and a suite of sensors such as TruSeen 3.0 heart rate monitoring, a barometer, and a triple-satellite positioning system (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO). Main pros include its exceptional 14-day battery life, accurate fitness and sleep tracking, 5ATM water resistance, and high-quality display. However, it lacks third-party app support, has no internal music storage or playback controls, and does not support Wi-Fi or NFC-based mobile payments.
