What we like about TCL 505 (4GB + 128GB)

  • Excellent value for money as a budget-friendly entry-level device
  • Sleek and modern design that looks more expensive than its price point
  • Large 6.75-inch HD+ display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate
  • Long-lasting 5010mAh battery that easily covers a full day of usage
  • Substantial 128GB internal storage with a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion
  • Near-stock Android 14 experience with minimal bloatware compared to competitors
  • Inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC support in a cheap model

What we don't like about TCL 505 (4GB + 128GB)

  • Overall performance can be slow, glitchy, or laggy when multitasking
  • Helio G36 processor is not suitable for heavy or graphics-intensive gaming
  • Camera quality is basic with noticeable processing lag and poor low-light performance
  • Slow 10W wired charging takes a long time to fill the large battery
  • Audio from the speakers can sound tinny or lack depth at higher volumes
  • Plastic build is a fingerprint magnet and can feel a bit 'toy-like' to some
  • Lack of 5G connectivity limits it to 4G LTE networks

Verdict

The TCL 505 (4GB + 128GB) is a budget-friendly 4G smartphone running Android 14, featuring a large 6.75-inch HD+ display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a substantial 5010mAh battery that offers all-day power. Key hardware includes an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 (or G25 in some regions) processor, a capable 50MP main rear camera for detailed photos, dual speakers with clear stereo sound, and a generous 128GB of expandable storage via microSD (up to 512GB). Pros are its impressive battery life, large and smooth 90Hz screen with NXTVISION enhancements, a modern design with a comfortable grip, and dual SIM functionality. Cons generally include noticeable lag during multitasking and app usage due to the entry-level processor, poor low-light camera performance, the use of plastic materials in construction, and relatively slow 10W wired charging.
