Third-party reviews

What we like about Holy Stone HS600D

  • Three-axis gimbal plus EIS with a 1/2-inch 48 MP f/1.8 camera
  • Up to 40 minutes of flight from a 3500 mAh battery
  • Heavier 603 g airframe stays steady in strong wind
  • GPS return-to-home, follow-me and a digital link up to about 6 km
  • HDR video mode and built-in Remote ID

What we don't like about Holy Stone HS600D

  • 603 g weight brings stricter EU registration and flight rules
  • Only downward sensors, no forward or side obstacle avoidance
  • 4K is limited to 30 fps
  • Bulkier to carry than 249 g travel drones

Verdict

The Holy Stone HS600D Sentinel is the brand's most serious camera drone. A three-axis gimbal with extra electronic stabilisation carries a 1/2-inch 48 MP sensor behind an f/1.8 lens and records 4K/30 fps video with an HDR mode. At 603 g it is a mid-size aircraft, which helps it stay steady in strong wind, and its 3500 mAh battery gives up to 40 minutes in the air. GPS supports return-to-home and follow-me tracking, a digital link carries video up to about 6 km, and Remote ID is built in. Downward sensors help with landing, yet there is no forward or side obstacle avoidance. The weight also means stricter EU rules than for 249 g drones. For buyers who want long flights and a proper gimbal for well under DJI prices, it offers a lot of hardware.
