Verdict

The Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation, 2022) 40mm is a budget-friendly smartwatch featuring a 40mm aluminium case and a Retina LTPO OLED display with up to 1,000 nits of brightness and a 324 x 394 pixel resolution. Powered by the S8 SiP dual-core processor—the same chip found in the Series 8—it offers snappy performance, 32GB of storage, and 50-metre water resistance. Key pros include essential health and safety features like a second-generation optical heart sensor, fall detection, and car crash detection, all at a lower price point than flagship models. However, it lacks an always-on display, fast charging, and advanced health sensors for ECG, blood oxygen (SpO2), or body temperature monitoring.
