What we like about Intel Core i7-13700KF

  • The unlocked multiplier lets you raise the clock speed yourself.
  • A 5.4 GHz boost clock gives quick single-task speed.
  • 16 physical cores and 24 threads handle heavy multitasking.
  • 1.5 MB of L2 cache per core keeps data close to the processor.
  • Memory overclocking is supported, so faster RAM can be used.
  • DDR4 and DDR5 support gives a choice of memory.

What we don't like about Intel Core i7-13700KF

  • Base power of 125 W and boost power of 253 W need a strong cooler.
  • No cooler is included, so one has to be bought.
  • No integrated graphics, so a separate graphics card is required.
  • Overclocking pushes power draw even higher, so tuning takes patience.
  • Two memory channels limit how fast memory-heavy jobs move data.

Verdict

Unlocked for overclocking, the Intel Core i7-13700KF suits enthusiasts who want to tune a processor themselves. It reaches a 5.4 GHz boost clock and has 16 physical cores, so rendering, editing and heavy multitasking all get plenty of room. Each core has 1.5 MB of L2 cache, which keeps frequently used data close to the processor, and memory overclocking is supported too. The chip mixes eight performance cores with eight efficient ones, and it runs DDR4 or DDR5 memory. The trade-off is heat: base power is 125 W and boost power reaches 253 W, so it needs a strong cooler, and none is included. It suits a buyer who builds a desktop around a separate graphics card and is happy to tune the chip and the cooling.
