What we like about NuPhy AIR60 HE

  • World's first low-profile Hall Effect keyboard, offering a unique ultra-compact 60% layout for space-saving
  • Exceptional gaming performance with an 8,000Hz polling rate and extremely low latency (~0.125ms)
  • Advanced Hall Effect features including Rapid Trigger, HyperTap, and customizable actuation points (0.1mm to 3.3mm)
  • High-quality Gateron Low-Profile Magnetic Jade and Jade Pro switches that are pre-lubed and hot-swappable
  • Excellent typing comfort due to its thin, low-profile design that often doesn't require a wrist rest
  • Robust web-based software for deep customization of keys, layers, and lighting without local installation
  • Solid build aesthetics featuring an aluminum top frame and durable PBT keycaps

What we don't like about NuPhy AIR60 HE

  • Wired-only connectivity with no Bluetooth or 2.4GHz wireless support
  • Compact 60% layout lacks dedicated arrow keys and navigation cluster, which can be frustrating for productivity
  • Stock PBT keycaps are opaque and lack shine-through legends, making them difficult to read in dark environments
  • The side-mounted USB-C port location is polarizing and may interfere with certain desk setups or cable choices
  • Some users reported quality control issues, such as wobbly spacebars or fragile kick-out feet
  • Web-based software and firmware can be buggy, with occasional connection or Linux compatibility issues
  • Price is considered high for a 60% wired keyboard, especially with the 'Pro' switch surcharge

Verdict

The NuPhy Air60 HE is a compact 60% layout wired gaming keyboard and the world's first to feature low-profile magnetic Hall Effect switches. It boasts a true 8000Hz polling and PCB scan rate for ultra-low 0.125ms latency, utilizing Gateron Low-Profile Magnetic Jade or Jade Pro switches with an adjustable actuation range from 0.1mm to 3.3mm. Key characteristics include an 18.8mm ultra-thin aluminum-top chassis, hot-swappable support, and advanced gaming features like Rapid Trigger, SOCD, and Hyper Tap accessible via the web-based NuPhyIO software. Main pros are its industry-leading responsiveness, exceptional portability, and highly customizable typing feel, though cons include the lack of wireless connectivity, the absence of dedicated arrow keys which may feel cramped on layers, and a potentially 'clacky' spacebar sound compared to the rest of the board.
