What we like about Cooler Master SK620

  • High value for money, often undercutting competitors in price
  • Sleek and premium build quality with a brushed aluminum top plate
  • Compact 60% layout is highly portable and includes dedicated arrow keys
  • Improved ergonomic keycaps compared to the earlier flat chicklet versions
  • Bright and highly customizable RGB lighting with robust software support
  • Low-profile TTC switches offer a fast and responsive typing/gaming experience
  • Wired USB-C connectivity is reliable and simple to set up

What we don't like about Cooler Master SK620

  • Non-standard layout (small right Shift key) requires a steep learning curve
  • Reports of durability issues, specifically keys double-registering or failing after a few months
  • Some users find the low-profile design still feels too tall without a wrist rest
  • Software can be unintuitive, with limitations on remapping secondary functions
  • Switches are not hot-swappable, limiting customization for enthusiasts
  • Proprietary stabilizers make it difficult to find compatible third-party keycaps
  • The 60% form factor can be frustrating for productivity tasks due to reliance on FN layers

Verdict

The Cooler Master SK620 is a compact 60% wired mechanical keyboard featuring low-profile TTC switches (Red, Blue, or Brown) with a 3.2mm total travel and 1.2mm actuation point. Its sleek design incorporates a durable brushed aluminum top plate, contoured ergonomic keycaps, and per-key RGB backlighting customizable via the MasterPlus+ software or an on-the-fly system. Main pros include its extreme portability at just 377g, multi-platform compatibility (Windows/macOS), and a 32-bit ARM Cortex processor for a 1000Hz polling rate. However, some users note potential cons such as a steep learning curve for the layered 60% layout, occasional reported connection stability issues, and LED brightness that may feel insufficient for some environments.
