Third-party reviews

Reviews last updated: June 2026 · How we calculate this

What we like about Keychron Q4 Pro QMK VIA

  • Exceptional build quality with a full CNC aluminum body that feels 'built like a tank'
  • Excellent typing experience and sound profile due to the double-gasket mount design
  • Highly customizable with full QMK/VIA support for remapping keys and creating macros
  • Hot-swappable PCB allows for easy switch changes without soldering
  • Features reliable Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity alongside a wired mode
  • Premium double-shot PBT keycaps in KSA profile offer durability and a nice tactile feel
  • South-facing RGB lighting provides better visibility from the typist's angle

What we don't like about Keychron Q4 Pro QMK VIA

  • High-profile design and fixed incline can be uncomfortable for long periods without a separate wrist rest
  • Extremely heavy (approx. 1.5kg), making it poor for portability despite its compact 60% size
  • Lack of dedicated arrow keys and navigation cluster can be a hurdle for productivity tasks
  • Some users reported initial difficulty connecting to the VIA web app without manual JSON file uploads
  • Large 'forehead' and 'chin' bezels contribute to a bulky aesthetic that may not appeal to all
  • Does not include adjustable feet or any way to change the typing angle

Verdict

The Keychron Q4 Pro is a high-end 60% layout wireless custom mechanical keyboard featuring a robust CNC-machined 6063 aluminum body and a double-gasket mount design for a flexible, dampened typing experience. Key specifications include Bluetooth 5.1 and Type-C wired connectivity with a 1000Hz polling rate, a 4000mAh battery providing up to 300 hours of use (backlight off), south-facing RGB LEDs, and a powerful STM32L432 MCU that supports extensive customization via QMK/VIA. Its main pros are the premium build quality, hot-swappable PCB for 3-pin and 5-pin switches, and the inclusion of double-shot KSA profile PBT keycaps. Some cons include its significant weight (approx. 1351g) which limits portability, the lack of dedicated arrow keys common to the 60% form factor, and a high-profile design that may require a separate wrist rest for comfort.
