  • Great value-for-money compared to higher-tier RTX 2080 cards

What we don't like about ASUS GeForce Dual RTX 2070

  • Fan 'clicking' noise reported by some users when the 0dB mode repeatedly toggles on and off at idle
  • Packaging can be underwhelming, sometimes lacking anti-static bags or sufficient padding
  • Limited overclocking headroom due to factory limits on the Turing architecture
  • Heatsink on some 'V2' models is shorter and can lead to higher noise levels under extreme loads
  • Ray tracing performance is a 'gimmick' for some, as it significantly impacts frame rates at higher resolutions
  • Connectivity is basic, often offering fewer DisplayPort options than premium models

Verdict

The Asus GeForce Dual RTX 2070 is a high-performance graphics card built on the NVIDIA Turing architecture, featuring 2304 CUDA cores, 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, and a boost clock speed reaching up to 1740 MHz in OC mode. Its main characteristics include an efficient dual-fan Axial-tech cooling system with IP5X dust resistance and a 2.7-slot design that maximizes heatsink surface area for superior thermal management. Key pros include robust 1440p and 4K gaming performance, real-time ray tracing support, and exceptionally quiet operation thanks to 0dB technology that stops fans during light loads. However, notable cons include its relatively large physical footprint that may not fit in smaller cases and the lack of NVLink support for multi-GPU configurations.
