What we like about Sony Cyber-shot WX60

  • Excellent image quality with sharp details and vibrant colors.
  • Compact and pocket-sized design, ideal for taking anywhere.
  • Good low-light performance thanks to the Exmor R CMOS sensor.
  • Advanced features such as 8x optical zoom, optical image stabilizer (Optical SteadyShot) and continuous shooting at 10 fps.
  • Built-in 360° sweep panorama mode and Full HD video recording.

What we don't like about Sony Cyber-shot WX60

  • Image quality and background noise at higher ISO settings.
  • The function to join or compose panoramic photos sometimes has defects at the joining points.
  • Limited battery life, with an expectation of around 230 shots per charge according to the CIPA standard.
  • The lens can sometimes be overexposed in full auto mode in high-contrast situations.

Verdict

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX60 is a pocket-sized point-and-shoot digital camera equipped with a 16.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens featuring an 8x optical zoom (25-200mm equivalent). Key characteristics include Full HD 1080i video recording, rapid continuous shooting at up to 10 frames per second, and an Optical SteadyShot system that provides excellent image stabilisation. Primary pros include its highly compact and lightweight design, superb colour reproduction in good lighting, and an intelligent auto mode that simplifies shooting for beginners. On the downside, the camera struggles with noticeable noise at high ISO settings (above ISO 800), and users may notice occasional ghosting or alignment errors when processing its automated sweep panoramas.
