What we like about Sony Cyber-shot DSC W570

  • Compact, lightweight and elegant design with excellent build quality
  • High quality Carl Zeiss lens
  • Intuitive user interface and easy to navigate menus
  • iAuto mode and scene mode for quick shots, ideal for beginners
  • Good Face Detection performance and comfortable 5cm macro for very close subjects

What we don't like about Sony Cyber-shot DSC W570

  • Auto mode can sometimes misfocus under complex conditions
  • Image stabilizer not at the top of the category and videos limited to 720p
  • Shutter button too sensitive and no manual adjustment of file size
  • Low resolution LCD display that may be difficult to view at particular angles
  • Limited battery life and visible noise in images in some situations

Verdict

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 is a compact point-and-shoot featuring a 16.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a 25mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with 5x optical zoom. It offers 720p HD video recording, Sweep Panorama mode, and Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation within a slim, pocketable chassis. While it excels in portability and ease of use for casual daylight photography, its main drawbacks include limited low-light performance due to the CCD sensor's noise at high ISOs and the lack of full manual controls.
