What we don't like about Panasonic LUMIX DMC LZ30

  • Poor image quality with noticeable noise even at low ISO settings
  • Slow and sometimes unreliable autofocus, especially in macro or low light
  • Lack of an electronic viewfinder (LCD screen only)
  • Video recording is limited to 720p HD in Motion JPEG format

Verdict

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ30 is a budget-friendly bridge camera featuring a 16.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a powerful 35x optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 25–875mm. Designed for versatility, it includes optical image stabilisation, a 3.0-inch 460k-dot LCD screen, and manual exposure modes (P/M) for creative control, all powered by four standard AA batteries. Main advantages include its impressive telephoto reach, excellent macro capability with a 1cm minimum focus distance, and reliable battery life of approximately 380 shots. However, notable drawbacks include its limitation to 720p HD video, a lack of RAW support, slow continuous shooting at just 1 fps, and the absence of a built-in viewfinder or wireless connectivity.
