What we like about Haylou RS4

  • Vibrant 1.78-inch AMOLED display with high resolution (368x448)
  • Extremely affordable price point for an AMOLED wearable
  • Sleek, minimalist design with a high-quality metal frame
  • Lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear
  • Good battery life, typically lasting 10+ days on a single charge
  • IP68 dust and water resistance
  • Smooth and responsive user interface performance

What we don't like about Haylou RS4

  • Lack of built-in GPS (relies on connected smartphone for tracking)
  • Haylou Fun companion app is reported to be buggy and poorly implemented
  • No built-in microphone or speaker for Bluetooth calls
  • Limited to a small number of built-in workout modes (only 12)
  • Poor legibility for notifications due to unflattering font and spacing
  • Inaccurate SpO2 sensor readings compared to medical-grade devices
  • Wireless payments are limited to Alipay, which is not useful in Western markets

Verdict

The Haylou RS4 is a budget-friendly smartwatch featuring a high-resolution 1.78-inch AMOLED display (368x448 pixels) housed in a lightweight 48.6g metal frame with IP68 water resistance. Key characteristics include 24-hour heart rate monitoring, SpO2 blood oxygen tracking, sleep analysis, and a 230mAh battery providing up to 12 days of typical use. Its main pros are the vibrant, sharp screen quality and long-lasting battery life for its price point; however, significant cons include the lack of built-in GPS, no microphone or speaker for calls, and a limited selection of 12 workout modes compared to more advanced fitness trackers.
