Reviews last updated: May 2026 · How we calculate this

What we like about ASRock B550M PRO4

  • Excellent value for money with a high feature-to-price ratio
  • Generous storage options, including two M.2 SSD slots (one Gen4) and six SATA ports
  • Strong connectivity with eight rear USB ports and an additional dedicated M.2 slot for WiFi/Bluetooth
  • Better-than-average audio quality for its tier, featuring the Realtek ALC1200 codec
  • Includes helpful troubleshooting LEDs (Post Status Checker) to assist during assembly
  • Clean, professional aesthetic with silver aluminum heatsinks suitable for white or black builds

What we don't like about ASRock B550M PRO4

  • Lacks a BIOS Flashback button, making CPU upgrades potentially difficult without a compatible older chip
  • Frequent reports of XMP instability and difficulty reaching advertised RAM speeds (e.g., above 3200MHz) without manual tuning
  • Does not include built-in WiFi, requiring an additional purchase of a module or adapter
  • VRM design is considered entry-level and may struggle with high-end Ryzen 9 CPUs or aggressive overclocking
  • The UEFI/BIOS interface is sometimes described as laggy or less intuitive compared to competitors
  • Sharing of lanes between M.2 and SATA ports can disable certain SATA slots if both M.2 ports are used

Verdict

The ASRock B550M Pro4 is a feature-rich Micro-ATX motherboard for AMD Ryzen (AM4) processors, featuring a robust 8-power phase design, PCIe 4.0 support for GPUs and NVMe SSDs, and dual M.2 slots (one Hyper M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4). It is highly regarded for its excellent price-to-performance ratio, featuring robust heatsinks for VRMs, onboard RGB headers, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A/C ports, and a pre-installed I/O shield, making it great for budget-to-midrange builds. However, it lacks built-in Wi-Fi and has limited fan headers, which may require splitters for more complex cooling setups.
