What we like about Aula WIN68 HE

  • High performance for gaming with an 8,000Hz polling rate and rapid trigger features
  • Excellent value for money, often cited as one of the most affordable magnetic switch keyboards
  • Web-based software allows for easy customization without needing to install bulky drivers
  • Surprisingly good typing sound for a budget HE board, often described as 'clackier' but satisfying
  • Sturdy build quality with a weight of approximately 700g that feels durable despite the plastic case
  • Vibrant south-facing RGB lighting with multiple customizable modes

What we don't like about Aula WIN68 HE

  • Wired-only connection with no wireless or Bluetooth options
  • The ABS plastic case can feel less premium than higher-end aluminum alternatives
  • Software can be finicky, with some users reporting difficulty getting the web app to detect the device
  • Occasional wake issues where the keyboard may require replugging after the PC sleeps
  • Keycaps on some variants have poor transparency, making legends hard to read in low light
  • Lack of on-the-fly profile switching shortcuts

Verdict

The Aula WIN68 HE is a high-performance 65% wired gaming keyboard featuring advanced Hall Effect magnetic switches that offer a customizable actuation range (0.01mm to 3.3mm) and rapid trigger capabilities. Key technical specs include an industry-leading 8000Hz polling rate and ultra-low latency of approximately 0.2ms to 0.3ms, housed in a compact 68-key tray-mount ABS plastic chassis with south-facing RGB lighting and double-shot PBT or ABS keycaps. Main pros include its extreme responsiveness for competitive gaming, hot-swappable magnetic switches, and a versatile web-based driver that eliminates the need for bulky software downloads. However, some users note potential cons such as a slightly hollow sound profile, a lack of wireless connectivity, and no adjustable height feet for ergonomic tilting.
