The Cooler Master CK720 mechanical keyboard is an impressive 8/10 enthusiast-level board designed to be an accessible, solder-free entry point into keyboard customization. It features a smooth and quiet typing experience out of the box, thanks to its high-quality silicone padding and tactile Kailh Box V2 switches. A major highlight of the product is its beginner-friendly customization ecosystem, which requires no tools like screwdrivers or soldering irons. Instead, users can easily snap parts together like LEGO bricks using the included reliable keycap puller, switch removal tools, and an extra set of eight Cherry MX switches. While the keyboard excels in ease of use, the review identifies a few clear trade-offs regarding its setup and stock configuration. On the positive side, swapping to the included Cherry MX switches vastly improves the acoustic profile by maximizing the keyboard's "thock" sound. However, the primary drawback is that the keyboard does not come fully equipped with these preferred switches, leaving the reviewer wishing that the entire board consisted of Cherry MX switches rather than just the eight provided pieces. Additionally, while removing keycaps is...

The Digital Trends review of the Cooler Master CK720Go to product viewer dialogue for this item. praises the $100, 65% mechanical keyboard for offering enthusiast-level features, including a hot-swappable PCB, pre-lubed switches, and a solid aluminum top plate with internal dampening for a premium feel. Performance is noted as top-tier, with pre-lubed stabilizers ensuring a smooth, thocky, and rattle-free typing experience out of the box. However, the review highlights that the CK720 is strictly a wired device, limiting flexibility compared to wireless competitors. Additionally, it is noted that the keyboard is best suited for those looking to customize, as casual users may find it unnecessary, and the full value is realized through modification.

Cooler Master CK720 Review Summary The Cooler Master CK720 is a wired, $99 65% mechanical keyboard designed as an entry-level gateway into the keyboard hobby, though it falls short of its marketed "everyday endgame" title. It features a tray-mount design with an aluminium top plate, an ABS plastic bottom housing, and per-key RGB lighting managed via Masterplus software. A major highlight is its 5-pin MX hotswap sockets, which provide wide switch compatibility and extra stability. In its stock configuration, the board comes with durable OEM-profile PBT doubleshot keycaps (for US/TC/UK layouts), built-in sound-dampening silicone padding, a multi-profile programmable dial, and an extra eight Cherry MX Green switches to swap in. The reviewed model utilized Kailh Box White clicky switches, which deliver a deep, satisfying sound and tactile feel using a click bar mechanism. Despite its strong value and solid build quality, the review highlights several frustrating design flaws and limitations. The biggest drawback is its non-standard layout, which features a tab-sized right shift key and three 1U bottom row keys, making it highly incompatible with popular aftermarket keycap sets. Furthermore,...

Cooler Master CK720 Review Summary The keyboard boasts standout pros, including its highly customizable design, compact space-saving layout, and an amazing sound profile that strikes a pleasant balance between "thocky" and "clacky" tones. Users can also unlock deeper per-key RGB lighting and macro customization by downloading the MasterPlus software. On the downside, the cons include a lack of available first-party accessories and a somewhat high price tag for casual buyers. Additionally, while the top plate is removable to access deeper internal components, its hidden release lever is incredibly tricky and frustrating to operate.

The ThinkComputers review highlights the Cooler Master CK720 as a 65% hot-swappable mechanical keyboard that brings enthusiast-level features, including excellent sound dampening and a solid aluminum top plate, to a mainstream price point. It delivers a "thocky" typing experience with pre-lubricated switches and stabilizers, excelling in both typing feel and gaming performance with a 1000Hz polling rate. However, the review notes inconsistencies, such as a higher-toned spacebar and a basic, non-braided rubber cable, contrasting with the high-quality base. Additionally, while the MasterPlus+ software offers customization, it limits key remapping exclusively to the first layer, restricting advanced user customization.

The Cooler Master CK720 is reviewed as the manufacturer's first deliberate step into the custom enthusiast keyboard space, earning an overall rating of 8.0 out of 10. This compact wired keyboard features a removable aluminum top frame, a programmable rotary encoder dial, 16.7 million color RGB lighting, and pre-installed Kailh Box V2 mechanical switches (available in Red, White, or Brown variations). A major highlight of the internal design is the inclusion of multi-layered silicone padding for sound dampening, which effectively removes any empty or hollow noise from the sound profile to deliver a highly satisfying, premium typing and gaming feel. Reviewers also praised the build for its quality PBT double-shot keycaps (on standard US/UK/TC layouts) and decent, smooth stock stabilizers out of the box. Despite its strong enthusiast-focused feature set, the review highlights a few notable design limitations and structural drawbacks. The most significant complaint is a strict manufacturer policy that voids the 2-year warranty if the keyboard is fully disassembled, a restriction that directly conflicts with the habits of its target market of custom keyboard modders. Additionally, while the...

Built with a tray-mount design, a plastic bottom case, and a removable aluminium top plate, it comes equipped with Kailh Box V2 switches (red, white, or brown), double-shot PBT keycaps, and pre-lubed plate-mounted stabilizers. The layout includes arrow keys and a customizable notched metal volume knob, though it features a longer footprint than typical 65-percent keyboards. While Cooler Master packages the keyboard with its Master Plus+ software for keymapping and macro recording, a major highlight is that the software is completely optional, as secondary inputs are pre-bound on the physical hardware. The review highlights several pros, notably its excellent multi-layer silicone sound-dampening that prevents case and spring ping, bright per-key RGB lighting, and a hot-swappable 5-pin PCB that allows effortless switch customization. However, it suffers from notable cons, including a frustratingly tight and narrow USB-C port cutout that rejects standard third-party cables, thin stock keycaps, and a stiff typing bottom-out caused by...

The reviewer heavily praises the keyboard's "sublime" out-of-the-box performance and its status as a "tinker's dream" due to its highly customisable enthusiast features. Core pros highlighted in the review include the addition of smooth, crisp Kailh Box V2 hot-swappable switches, lubed stabilizers, and doubleshot PBT keycaps. The layout also successfully retains useful physical features such as a volume knob, a swappable frame, dual-height kickstands, and RGB backlighting with Mac and Windows shortcut integration. However, the review details several notable omissions and areas that lack refinement, which ultimately dragged down its overall score. In terms of physical trade-offs, the CK720 drops wireless connectivity, removes the palm rest, and swaps out a premium braided cable for a standard one. From a usability standpoint, the...

The Cooler Master CK720 is a sturdy, 950g mechanical gaming keyboard featuring a 65% form factor that balances compactness with the preservation of dedicated arrow keys. It is highly praised for its beginner-friendly, enthusiast-level customisation, coming equipped with hot-swappable Kailh Box V2 switches (available in red, white, or brown), pre-lubed stabilizers, a keycap puller, and eight bonus Cherry MX Green switches. Reviewers highlight its excellent build quality, featuring an aluminum top plate and two-part silicone pads, which provide a comfortable, rattle-free typing experience out of the box. However, the keyboard suffers from a few notable design and performance missteps. The prominent rotary precision dial is positioned too close to the vertical row of keys below it, leading to frequent accidental keystrokes like hitting the delete key. Additionally, the per-key RGB backlighting is noticeably dim at maximum brightness due to the opaque, dark factory keycaps. Finally, while the MasterPlus+ companion software allows for highly functional macro mapping across four onboard profiles, its unguided UI lacks explanations, making it impractical and confusing for beginners.
