Edifier W820NB Review | 93 Data compared

The Edifier W820NB headphones cost $79.99 and mix budget pricing with a few premium features. Their biggest strengths are excellent active noise cancelation (ANC), a very long battery life of nearly 40 hours, and a lightweight design that stays comfortable during long work shifts. They also offer a fast charging mode that gives you two hours of playback from a quick 10-minute charge. When it comes to audio performance, these headphones deliver a well-balanced, spacious sound with clear high-end notes and crisp vocals, making them a great fit for listening to classical and cinematic music. Despite these benefits, the headphones fall short in several key areas due to their low price point. Their fully plastic build feels cheap and makes loud, distracting creaking noises whenever you move or adjust them. The design is also not compact or foldable for easy travel. For audio preferences, the low-end bass is weak and thin, which may disappoint fans of heavy hip-hop or 80s pop music. Finally, the app experience is stripped down compared to pricier Edifier models because it completely lacks a customizable...

The Edifier W820NB is an affordable pair of over-ear, active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones priced at $80 that offers a sleek, lightweight design weighing 280 grams. They feature 40mm drivers delivering balanced sound with powerful bass, stable Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and support for AAC and SBC codecs. Key strengths include an impressive battery life of up to 50 hours with ANC off (40 hours with ANC on), quick-charging capabilities, and an effective four-microphone ANC system that excels at blocking low-frequency rumble while providing a functional transparency mode. Additionally, the companion app expands usability by offering 3D ambient sounds and four equalizer settings. Despite these strong features, the headphones have a few notable drawbacks. On the physical design front, the ear cups can rotate and flatten for storage, but they do not fully fold up, which may disappoint users looking for a highly compact travel option. In terms of performance, turning on the active noise cancellation causes a slight reduction in the overall playback volume. Furthermore, there is some ambiguity within the companion app, as the practical difference between the "classical" and...

The Medium review of the Edifier W820NB headphones highlights a user-friendly design featuring tactile physical controls for volume and tracking, along with a clean companion app for settings and battery management. Key performance advantages include a well-balanced Ambient Mode for safety and a highly effective low-latency Game Mode, though the Active Noise Cancellation is noted as weaker than premium alternatives. While functioning well for the price, the review points out limitations, such as high-resolution audio being restricted to a wired connection rather than Bluetooth.

The Edifier W820NB is a highly affordable, lightweight pair of over-ear headphones that heavily mimic the clean design aesthetics of the premium Sony WH-1000XM4 at a fraction of the price. Scoring a 9.5 out of 10 for comfort, its plastic construction keeps the headset exceptionally light, while the soft earcups, padded headband, and swivel brackets ensure zero ear fatigue during long listening sessions. The audio quality is well-balanced, featuring 40mm dynamic drivers with titanium diaphragms that offer clean highs and a present, non-overpowering bass. Additional strong pros include an outstanding 49-hour battery life (without ANC), top-notch Active Noise Cancelling performance for its sub-$100 price bracket, an intuitive "Edifier Connect" companion app, and a seamless low-latency Game Mode. However, the reviewer points out a few notable cons regarding the hardware design and controls. The physical controls on the right earcup only score a 7 out of 10, largely because the volume and track selection share the exact same buttons, requiring distinct short and long presses that can be less convenient. Additionally, the strap adjustment mechanism is constructed entirely from plastic rather...

The Edifier W820NB Over-ear Headphones offer advanced features, comfortable wear, and highly competitive audio quality at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. The design boasts a lightweight 8.2-ounce body featuring matte white surfaces, light grey accents, and swiveling earcups lined with comfortable padding that minimizes head fatigue. Equipped with Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Ambient Sound mode, and a low-latency Game Mode, the headphones deliver a highly versatile listening experience. Audio performance testing demonstrates a robust frequency response range from 20Hz up to 15kHz, showcasing supportive, punchy bass that does not muddy the mid or upper frequencies, making them excel across music genres, movies, and gaming. Several clear advantages and distinct drawbacks stand out in this evaluation. The primary pros include an exceptional battery life that lasts up to 49 hours with ANC off (or 29 hours with ANC on), an intuitive and easy-to-use physical button layout, a comfortable ergonomic fit, and highly effective noise isolation. On the downside, the cons highlight a complete omission of a protective travel case or carrying bag, which is generally a standard...

The Edifier W820NB is a lightweight, budget-friendly pair of Bluetooth 5.0 headphones priced at $56 that features a minimalist, robust plastic design with 90° swiveling earcups and comfortable memory foam earpads. A standout feature is its impressive active noise cancellation (ANC), which effectively silences low-frequency sounds like air conditioners, complemented by an adjustable ambient mode and an above-average passive noise isolation. It also offers a low-latency game mode and stellar battery life, delivering up to 29 hours of playback with ANC enabled and an exceptional 49 hours with ANC turned off, all achieved via a quick 1.5-hour USB-C charge. Sound quality is balanced and consistent across all ANC modes, delivering a warm profile with punchy mid-bass, clear, forward vocals, and a smooth, relaxed treble built for fatigue-free listening. Despite these strengths, the review notes several design and technical limitations. On the hardware side, the headphones lack a traditional 3.5mm auxiliary port, making them primarily a wireless device, and they are not foldable for easy storage. In terms of audio performance, the headphones do not support the high-quality aptX Bluetooth codec....
