What we like about Xiaomi Redmi Note 12T Pro (12GB + 512GB)

  • Powerful performance for the price, suitable for gaming and heavy multitasking with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200-Ultra processor.
  • Excellent battery life (around 1.5 days of use for some users) and very fast 67W wired charging support.
  • High refresh rate 6.6-inch FHD+ display (up to 144Hz) that provides a smooth visual experience.
  • Good quality daytime photos with the 64MP main camera sensor.
  • Solid and loud stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
  • Good value for money, offering near-flagship specs at a mid-range price point.
  • Inclusion of features like 5G connectivity, NFC, and an IR blaster.
  • Relatively clean software experience with fewer intrusive ads on higher-tier devices.

What we don't like about Xiaomi Redmi Note 12T Pro (12GB + 512GB)

  • Pre-installed Chinese apps (bloatware) if you buy the Chinese version.
  • Camera performance in low-light and with the ultra-wide/macro lenses is not on par with flagship devices.
  • The display is LCD on many variants, not AMOLED, so lacks the deep blacks of some competitors.
  • Potential software quirks and image processing issues, such as skin smoothing on the selfie camera that cannot be turned off.
  • Basic IP53 ingress protection (water resistant, not waterproof).
  • No option for expandable memory (microSD card slot).
  • Comes with an older version of Android (Android 12) out of the box in some cases.

Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12T Pro (12GB+512GB) is a high-performance mid-range smartphone featuring a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra processor and an impressive 144Hz IPS LCD for smooth visuals and snappy performance. Key benefits include the large 5080mAh battery with fast 67W charging, the triple-lens 64MP main camera, and the generous 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, it uses an IPS LCD instead of a higher-quality AMOLED screen, lacks expandable storage, and features a plastic body.
