What we like about NuPhy Halo65 HE

  • Outstanding gaming performance with an 8000Hz polling rate and ultra-low latency.
  • Excellent build quality featuring an aluminum top frame and solid construction.
  • Smooth and satisfying typing experience with high-quality pre-lubed magnetic switches and stabilizers.
  • Highly customizable through robust web-based NuPhyIO software (Rapid Trigger, adjustable actuation).
  • Great value for money, often cited as one of the best budget Hall Effect keyboards under $100.
  • Unique aesthetic with the signature 'Halo' RGB light strip and vibrant PBT keycaps.
  • Includes a dampened 'GhostBar' spacebar that significantly improves sound acoustics.

What we don't like about NuPhy Halo65 HE

  • Wired-only connectivity limits use with mobile devices and home theater setups.
  • South-facing LEDs paired with non-shine-through keycaps make legends hard to read in the dark.
  • Typing noise is on the louder side, which may not be ideal for quiet office environments.
  • The 65% form factor might require a steep learning curve for users reliant on dedicated shortcuts.
  • The software, while powerful, is still noted by some users as needing more 'polish' and fine-tuning.

Verdict

The NuPhy Halo65 HE is a performance-focused 65% (67-key) hall effect gaming keyboard featuring an aluminum top frame, an 8000Hz polling rate, and ultra-low 0.3ms latency. It utilizes Magnetic Coral or Magnetic Jade Pro switches with an adjustable actuation range of 0.1mm to 4.0mm and 0.02mm rapid trigger sensitivity, all configurable via the web-based NuPhyIO software. Key pros include exceptional build quality, professional-grade gaming responsiveness, and the inclusion of the noise-dampening GhostBar spacebar for improved acoustics. However, its main cons are the lack of wireless connectivity, as it is a wired-only model, and the use of non-shine-through PBT keycaps that can make legends difficult to read in low-light environments.
