Third-party reviews

What we like about Varmilo Muse65 HE

  • Exceptional build quality with a heavy, premium CNC-machined aluminum chassis
  • Stunning aesthetics featuring detailed designer themes and high-quality PBT keycaps
  • High-performance gaming features including an 8,000Hz polling rate and Rapid Trigger functionality
  • Smooth typing experience with Gateron magnetic switches and effective internal sound dampening
  • Highly precise per-key actuation adjustment down to 0.1mm
  • Hot-swappable PCB specifically for Hall Effect (HE) magnetic switches

What we don't like about Varmilo Muse65 HE

  • Companion software is often described as unintuitive, buggy, or difficult to set up
  • Initial calibration process can be tedious and time-consuming for users
  • Limited to linear switches only; no tactile or clicky options for the Hall Effect PCB
  • Lacks adjustable feet to change the typing angle
  • Wired-only connection with no wireless or Bluetooth support
  • RGB lighting is noted by some reviewers to be less vibrant than competitors

Verdict

The Varmilo Muse65 HE is a premium 65% layout wired gaming keyboard featuring a robust full CNC-machined aluminum case weighing 1.2kg and high-performance Hall Effect magnetic switches, such as Gateron Magnetic White or Jade Pro. Its main characteristics include an industry-leading 8,000Hz polling rate and a total latency as low as 0.2ms, complemented by durable dye-sub PBT keycaps in unique artistic themes like Sakura and Asgard. Key pros include highly customizable per-key actuation points adjustable down to 0.02mm, Rapid Trigger functionality for competitive gaming, and a smooth, well-dampened typing sound thanks to its aluminum plate and silicone padding. However, some cons include a janky and less beginner-friendly companion software, a fixed 6.5-degree typing angle lacking adjustable feet, and a spacebar sound that some users find less premium than the rest of the board.
