Sennheiser Momentum Wireless Review | 93 Data compared

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones successfully transition the iconic line to Bluetooth without sacrificing their industrial, premium design of metal and leather. A key upgrade is a new foldable hinge mechanism that drastically improves portability and shrinks the carrying case size. Comfort is also elevated by slightly enlarged ear-cups that fit better over a variety of ear sizes. Performance-wise, they deliver deep, rich, and impeccably balanced audio across multiple genres, supported by highly effective active noise cancellation (NoiseGuard) that isolates background noise without introducing an annoying buzz. Additionally, they boast an impressive battery life of over 22 hours and conveniently include a premium backup audio cable to keep the music playing even when the battery is completely flat. Despite these stellar attributes, the headphones are not without a few notable drawbacks. On the physical side, the on-ear Bluetooth controls and standby buttons feel cheap, plasticky, and mushy to press. Musically, while the audio is exceptionally punchy and detailed, they offer a more toned-down, less intense bass profile compared to direct competitors like the Beats By Dre Studio Wireless, which may...

Stefan Etienne's review of the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless highlights their exceptional sound quality, featuring intense tone, clear audio, and powerful bass, alongside a reliable, long-lasting battery. The headphones offer superior audio when wired, though the primary wireless experience is praised for fast, stable Bluetooth pairing. Medium·Stefan EtienneDespite the high praise, the review notes significant cons, specifically consistent Bluetooth interference and audio skipping when used in crowded, high-commotion environments like New York City. Additionally, the reviewer expresses a preference against using the audio cable, finding it contradictory to the purpose of modern wireless technology.

This review highlights the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones as a premium choice that successfully cuts the cord without sacrificing world-renowned audio quality. The over-ear headphones boast an attractive, sturdy design built with high-quality stainless steel and plush black leather. Musically, they deliver a generous soundstage with rich, crystal-clear details, sharp piano tones, and exceptionally warm highs and mids. Comfort is a major strong point, offering a snug, sound-isolating seal that easily lasts through an eight-hour workday. Additionally, they feature intuitive three-way wireless controls on the right ear cup for volume and tracking, straightforward Bluetooth or NFC pairing, and a respectable battery life rating of up to 22 hours with active noise cancelling (ANC) enabled. Despite these strengths, the headphones come with notable downsides, most heavily defined by their steep $499 launch price tag which limits their appeal to deep-pocketed audiophiles. While the NoiseGard Hybrid ANC successfully dampens low and high-frequency ambient racket without injecting a low hiss or white noise, it does not completely match the "eerie silence" provided by market competitors like the Bose QuietComfort 25. Furthermore, the audio...

Summary of the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless Review The Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless is an excellent, well-designed over-ear Bluetooth headphone that delivers premium audio and strong build quality. Compared to the original version, this updated model features a new folding design for compact storage and has larger, softer earcups that provide a much more comfortable fit without pinching the ears. Tech-wise, it features Bluetooth 4.0, near-field communications (NFC) tap-to-pair technology, and aptX codec support to enhance streaming sound. It is also equipped with a reliable dual-microphone system that ensures clear cell phone calls, allowing users to naturally hear their own voice while speaking. The integrated battery provides a highly impressive runtime of up to 22 hours. The major downside of these headphones is the steep $500 price tag, which the reviewer notes is roughly $100 overpriced. Another notable con is that the active noise cancellation cannot be turned off and remains permanently active whenever Bluetooth is in use. Performance-wise, the headphones offer a highly refined, balanced sound with tight bass that outperforms rivals like the Beats Studio Wireless. However, because the...

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones ($499.95 MSRP) feature a premium, lightweight retro design with large, memory foam earcups wrapped in supple leather. They provide excellent modern conveniences, including Bluetooth 4.0, NFC-pairing, and a built-in voice helper. A major pro is the rich, detailed midrange sound profile and the proprietary NoiseGard active noise cancellation (ANC), which effectively reduces ambient sounds like loud office HVAC systems or plane engines by up to 20 decibels. Additionally, the headphones offer exceptional portability thanks to sturdy, collapsing metal hinges and a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 22 hours. However, the headphones suffer from several performance and design cons that make the $500 price tag difficult to justify. Audio testing revealed a loose frequency response, highlighted by a sharp 10 to 20-decibel drop in the high midrange that makes bright sounds like classical piano or cymbals hard to hear. The low bass frequencies also suffer from audible distortion and slightly fuzzy reproduction. On the design side, the earcups lack sufficient interior depth, causing ears to rub against the speaker drivers during extended use, and the...

Tom Westrick’s review highlights the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones' exceptional, sturdy build quality and immediate comfort, praising the design's long-term wearability without fatigue. While the headband was initially concerning due to its thin design, the overall physical stability and premium feel are noted as significant strengths. Medium· Conversely, the review notes limited adjustment flexibility, requiring manual, frequent positioning of the earcups to contour to the user's head compared to competitors. This drawback necessitates a few seconds of adjustment each time they are worn, though the reviewer concludes the comfort justifies the effort.

The SoundGuys review of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM WirelessGo highlights a premium, well-built product with effective NoiseGard ANC and a rich, detailed sound signature characterized by powerful sub-bass and clear mids. While offering an expansive soundstage, the headphones are designed for a luxurious, durable feel, featuring leather and metal construction. Conversely, the review notes that the, then-standard, battery life is shorter compared to newer market competitors, and the bass-forward sound may not appeal to those seeking a purely flat response. Additionally, the premium materials result in a heavier design that may cause comfort issues, such as pressure, during extended listening sessions.

The Head-Fi review of the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless highlights premium build quality, effective noise cancellation, and a balanced sound with excellent, deep bass. The design is lauded for its "leather and steel" construction, offering a distinct, high-end aesthetic over plastic competitors. Conversely, the review notes significant drawbacks, specifically a colored, "nasal" mid-range with a restricted, telephone-like tonality. Additionally, the interface is described as unintuitive, with a single, clunky switch controlling volume, tracking, and playback.

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless is a luxurious pair of Bluetooth over-ear headphones featuring active noise cancellation and an estimated 22-hour battery life. It retains the classy aesthetic of its wired predecessor, boasting a leather headband, plush leather earpads, and stainless steel accents. Performance-wise, the headphones deliver a sculpted, bass-forward sound signature that produces powerful, thunderous lows without distorting at high volumes. This beefed-up sound profile is complemented by clear high-mids and tweaked treble presence, making it highly appealing to bass lovers, though it may not satisfy audio purists seeking a flat response. Additionally, the headphones offer excellent versatility with the inclusion of a detachable 3.5mm cable for passive, wired listening. However, the reviewer highlights notable drawbacks, primarily centered around its steep launch price of $499.95, which makes it one of the most expensive wireless options tested. While the audio quality is excellent, the active noise cancellation circuitry is deemed only good but not outstanding. It effectively dampens steady ambient hums but introduces a slight, audible hiss when music is not playing. Furthermore, the noise cancellation cannot be turned off independently...

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones offer a premium audio experience with powerful bass, sculpted highs, and distortion-free playback, combined with active noise cancellation (ANC) and passive wired listening capabilities. Despite the high-end sound, the headphones have a high $499.95 price tag and feature active noise cancellation that, while effective, does not quite match the class-leading performance of top competitors.
