  • Whisper-quiet operation at 42 dB
  • Highly energy efficient with an Class A rating
  • TimeLight projects program status and remaining time onto the floor
  • Spacious 14-place setting capacity with a flexible third-rack cutlery drawer
  • EfficientDry feature automatically opens the door to improve drying and prevent condensation

What we don't like about Siemens SMD6ECX12E

  • Higher upfront purchase cost compared to entry-level competitors
  • Eco mode takes a noticeably long time to finish a wash cycle
  • Installation requires very precise kitchen cabinet measurements
  • Lacks a dedicated half-load option for smaller washes
  • Out-of-warranty repair costs and replacement parts can be expensive

Verdict

The SMD6ECX12E (marketed under BSH brands) is a standard 60 cm fully integrated built-in dishwasher offering a spacious 14 place settings capacity and top-tier Class A energy efficiency, consuming just 0.54 kWh of energy and 9 liters of water per Eco cycle. Main technical highlights include an exceptionally quiet 42 dB noise level powered by an inverter motor, OpenAssist tap-to-open door mechanism, an interactive TimeLight floor projection status, Home Connect Wi-Fi integration, and a flexible Max Flex rack system featuring an upper Extra Clean Zone and a dedicated Vario cutlery drawer. Its notable advantages center around immense energy and water savings, comprehensive smart features, and whisper-quiet operation; however, potential downsides include the lack of a premium TFT display or interior lighting, and condenser drying technology that may lag behind advanced zeolite-based methods on plastic items.
