Verdict

The GoPro HD Hero2 is a rugged action camera equipped with an upgraded 11-megapixel 1/2.3" CMOS sensor and a fixed f/2.8 glass lens capable of capturing 1080p Full HD video at 30 fps, 720p at 60 fps, and WVGA at 120 fps for slow-motion playback. Its standout features include a selectable field of view (170° ultra-wide, 127° medium, and 90° narrow), a 10 fps photo burst mode, a 3.5mm external stereo microphone input, and an included waterproof housing rated down to 60 metres. Key advantages are its excellent daytime video sharpness, vibrant color saturation, improved language-based user interface, and highly versatile ecosystem of mounting accessories. However, it suffers from poor low-light photo and video performance that produces noticeable digital noise, lacking manual exposure or white balance adjustments, and it does not feature a built-in LCD screen for real-time framing or footage review.
