Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro Review | 64 Data compared

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro is an outstanding tenkeyless gaming keyboard that expands on its ROCCAT heritage with massive performance upgrades and deep customisation options. A major highlight of the board is its magnetic switches, which feature pre-lubed keypresses that are noticeably quieter and smoother than previous iterations. Through the Swarm II software, users gain the advanced ability to adjust the actuation points for every individual keystroke ranging from 0.1mm to 4.0mm. This allows gamers and heavy-handed writers alike to technologically correct muscle errors or set hair-trigger response times. Additionally, the keyboard excels in versatility, featuring a comfortable visual aesthetic with T-shaped ABS keycaps compatible with third-party brands, seamless console plug-and-play functionality, and a highly flexible macro system that allows up to three button inputs mapped to a single keystroke. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reception, the review highlights a few minor drawbacks and areas of complexity. Setting up the keyboard requires immediate firmware updates through the Swarm II software, which can feel slightly tedious. The sheer depth of the customization software presents a bit of a learning curve;...

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro ($149) is a lightweight and robustly built 75% wired gaming keyboard featuring highly customizable Hall Effect magnetic switches. The primary highlight is the ability to adjust the actuation points of individual keys between 0.1mm and 4mm via the detailed and user-friendly Swarm II companion software. This allows competitive gamers to configure up to three actions per keypress to optimize performance for RPG and FPS titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Visually, the keyboard is enhanced by highly adjustable per-key RGB backlighting that allows precise customization of hue, saturation, brightness, and effect speeds. Despite these premium features, the keyboard falls short due to significant design flaws that compromise gaming precision. Noticeable gaps between the keys cause fingers to slip, leading to frustrating typos and missed inputs during critical quick-time gaming events. Furthermore, the stock matte ABS keycaps double as fingerprint magnets and become shiny within just an hour of continuous use. Additional drawbacks include a non-remappable volume wheel and a cheap, flimsy foam wrist rest that slides around easily instead of magnetically snapping into place....

The Turtle Beach Vulcan 2 TKL Pro is a compact, tenkeyless wired gaming keyboard featuring Hall-effect magnetic analog switches with adjustable actuation points from 0.1mm to 4mm. It stands out visually with a premium, lightweight anodised aluminium body and an exposed, floating keycap design that makes cleaning and swapping keycaps remarkably easy. Its core gaming performance is solid, particularly when using the Rapid Trigger mode for fast, controlled movements in competitive games. Additionally, the hardware includes convenient touches like convex bottom-row keys for easier thumb access and a dedicated volume dial. However, the keyboard falls short in its daily usability, advanced software integration, and connectivity. Typing is uncomfortable due to narrow, deeply indented ABS keycaps and a hard-to-locate enter key. The accompanying Swarm 2 software is unintuitive, poorly rendered, lacks clear setting explanations, and is prone to crashing. Furthermore, its highly advertised analog Controller and Multi-input modes prove highly impractical for driving and walking mechanics in games like Grand Theft Auto 5. Finally, despite having a detachable USB cable, it completely lacks a wireless connectivity option.

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro is a tenkeyless gaming keyboard featuring custom magnetic Hall Effect linear switches, offering a smooth experience and adjustable actuation depths from 0.1mm to 4.0mm via the Swarm II software. Pros include a high 150-million-click lifespan and rapid-trigger capabilities for competitive gaming, representing a solid shift from the brand's former Roccat branding.

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro mechanical gaming keyboard is a compact, tenkeyless wired device retailing for $119.99 that balances value and premium features. It features an aluminum top plate, a volume control knob with push-to-mute functionality, a 32-bit ARM Cortex M3 processor, and a 1,000Hz polling rate. Its core strengths lie in its highly responsive in-game performance, hot-swappable 3-pin and 5-pin switch compatibility, and a satisfying, subtle click sound profile. Additionally, the manufacturer thoughtfully includes replacement switches and a keycap/switch puller right in the box, making it highly customizable for keyboard enthusiasts out of the gate. However, the keyboard does fall short in a few key areas regarding software stability and physical construction. The primary drawback is a significant software bug within the Swarm II application, which causes the program to soft-lock and crash whenever the user attempts to load or modify different lighting profiles. On the hardware side, the keyboard lacks a full metal body frame, resulting in some noticeable flex in the board when pressure is applied. Despite these software glitches and the minor structural flex,...

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro is a compact, tenkeyless gaming keyboard featuring an aluminum top plate, a low profile, and highly prominent per-key RGB lighting. Its standout feature is its magnetic Hall Effect linear switches, which offer a buttery smooth, frictionless typing experience. Using the accompanying Swarm II software, users gain a rare and granular level of customization, allowing them to adjust actuation points from 0.1mm to 4.0mm and modify release points on a per-key basis. This rapid-trigger capability proved highly advantageous in fast-paced games like Counter-Strike 2 for rapid strafing. Additional pros include a convenient, protruding volume wheel that doubles as a push-to-mute button, dual-angle kickstands, and a bundled soft foam wrist rest. However, the keyboard suffers from a major design flaw: its unusually small stock keycaps and the large gaps between them. While typing at work feels satisfying, this keycap layout severely hinders high-level gaming performance. During testing in Final Fantasy XIV, the reviewer frequently hit incorrect keys or hesitated because it was difficult to discern key positions by touch. Other minor cons include a wrist...

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro review by Aaron Lai highlights the peripheral line's transition from the acquired ROCCAT brand over to Turtle Beach branding, shifting toward a cleaner, less gamer-centric aesthetic. The review praises several major hardware enhancements, most notably the transition to magnetic linear switches with Hall effect detection, which offer a smooth typing experience and customizable actuation points ranging from 0.1mm to 4.0mm. Key physical improvements over its predecessor include the addition of a foam palm rest and dual-height kickstands. On the performance side, the keyboard stands out for its solid construction, vibrant per-key RGB backlighting, compatibility with most third-party cross-mount keycaps, a dedicated push-to-mute volume wheel, and the highly responsive Rapid Trigger Performance managed via the upgraded Swarm II desktop software.

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro is an impressive tenkeyless gaming mechanical keyboard that stands out for its striking anodized aluminum top plate and vibrant, heat-map style AIMO RGB lighting. Designed primarily to enhance high-intensity gaming experiences like VALORANT and Counter-Strike 2, it features highly precise magnetic hall-effect switches. These switches provide a smooth glide rather than a traditional mechanical "thock," allowing players to min-max their typing and gaming by adjusting global or individual actuation points. This degree of physical control is managed through the highly intuitive Swarm II application, which the reviewer notes is one of the best software companions available due to its clear user interface and real-time analog visualizer for keypress actuation. However, the keyboard has notable drawbacks that may deter enthusiast hobbyists. The reviewer heavily criticises its lack of internal acoustic customization, as the absence of dampening foam or padding under the switches makes typing significantly louder and less audibly satisfying. Furthermore, the custom convex keycaps suffer from loose, wobbly stems, and the inconsistent design switch to a smooth, concave profile on the bottom row...

The Turtle Beach Vulcan II TKL Pro is an exceptional tenkeyless gaming keyboard that balances high-end performance with stunning aesthetics. Priced competitively at $150, the keyboard features a sleek aluminum top plate and unique chiclet-style keycaps that showcase brilliant, highly customizable RGB lighting managed through the updated Swarm II software. It is equipped with Hall Effect magnetic mechanical switches, which ensure responsive typing, prevent key ghosting, and allow users to fine-tune their experience with forty preset actuation heights and up to three inputs per key. Additionally, the keyboard package provides practical extras, including a flexible 6ft braided USB-C cable, a comfortable foam palm rest, and macro management tools with built-in game presets. The review highlights several prominent strengths alongside a minor drawback for prospective buyers. On the positive side, the keyboard boasts a dazzling design, top-tier RGB lighting, highly customizable and responsive switches, and a significantly improved software app. The concave shape of the keys also provides a great grip during fast-paced gaming and intense typing sessions. On the downside, the low-profile chiclet keycaps require a distinct adjustment period, which...
