Ducky One 3 TKL Matcha Review | 64 Data compared

The GBAtemp review of the Ducky One 3 Matcha USB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard highlights its exceptional build quality and premium, out-of-the-box typing experience, driven by ultra-smooth Cherry MX Silver switches. A key advantage is the hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to customize switches in under two minutes without technical hassle. However, the hardware features incredibly bright indicator LEDs that can be blinding in dark environments. While the unique green Matcha aesthetic is visually refreshing, it is noted that this specific color scheme may not appeal to all users.

The Overclock3D review of the Ducky One 3 Matcha highly praises the keyboard for its robust build quality, soothing aesthetic, and exceptional acoustic performance, calling it one of the quietest mechanical keyboards tested. It features premium, color-matched keycaps, a quality USB-C cable, and hot-swappable switches, earning it an Enthusiast Award for its out-of-the-box experience. Conversely, the review notes a lack of dedicated software, forcing users to rely on manual, hardware-based DIP switches for customization. Additionally, this specific Matcha model omits backlighting and does not include a wrist rest, which may affect users in low-light conditions or those requiring added ergonomic support.

The keyboard is heavily weighted and structurally solid, offering a wobble-free typing foundation. The reviewed model came equipped with smooth, slightly bouncy genuine Cherry MX Black linear switches that deliver a responsive performance during intense gaming sessions. Acoustic performance is another high point; the thick plastic chassis combined with internal EVA foam padding effectively eliminates hollow pinging sounds. Furthermore, its snap-in stabilizer design allows enthusiasts to easily swap or modify parts without desoldering or entirely deconstructing the PCB. However, the keyboard suffers from subpar components and highly frustrating usability limitations. Out of the box, the stock stabilizers are dry, exceptionally noisy, and severely rattle, requiring aftermarket lubrication or immediate replacement with third-party alternatives like Durock V2s to sound acceptable. While the hardware is hot-swappable, executing deeper physical modifications (like the tape mod) is...
