Reviews score

Reviews score
✕
What it is
Average grade from independent test sites, magazines and video reviewers, 1–10.
How we count it
Grades: Each review's own score is converted to 1–10; without one, we grade the review ourselves. Big test sites count more, short reviews half as much as full tests. A video review counts half.
Score: The average grade is 80% of the review mark; the number of reviews is the other 20% (1 review = 5, the typical number in this category = 8, the most-reviewed model = 10).
Enough data: With few reviews, the average grade is pulled toward the typical grade of this category. No reviews yet: 7.2 for now.
Share: Reviews count 25% of the overall score.

Third-party reviews

What we like about Speediance Strap

  • 14 days of battery life means very few charges.
  • A 1.5 hour charge is quick for a band with this many sensors.
  • Rated 5 ATM and 50 m, so swimming is no problem.
  • VO2 max and HRV tracking give detailed training data.
  • Sleep reports and a readiness score help plan rest days.
  • At 28 g it is light enough to wear all day and all night.

What we don't like about Speediance Strap

  • There is no display, so the band cannot show data on the wrist.
  • There are no notifications and no call control.
  • No GPS, which limits outdoor route tracking.
  • The long list of metrics takes time to learn.

Verdict

14 days on one charge is the first thing you notice about the Speediance Strap, a premium band for someone who tracks training closely. It charges in 1.5 hours, so a top-up before a trip takes little time. It is rated to 50 m, or 5 ATM, so swimming and water sports are no problem. The extras are the real draw. It tracks VO2 max, HRV, training load and skin temperature, and it shows a readiness score. It also has a gyroscope, a compass, a temperature sensor and multi-sport mode. At 28 g it is light on the wrist. The trade-off is what it leaves out. There is no display, no notifications, no call control and no GPS. It suits a serious trainer who wants recovery numbers and no screen to glance at.
