Third-party reviews

Reviews last updated: June 2026 · How we calculate this

What we like about Netgear EX2800

  • Affordable price point, often cited as a great budget-friendly Wi-Fi solution
  • Simple and fast setup process, frequently taking less than five minutes via WPS or instructions
  • Compact wall-plug design that typically does not block adjacent outlets
  • Effective at filling dead zones in small to medium-sized homes (up to 1,200 sq. ft.)
  • Dual-band support allows for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections to reduce interference
  • Reliable for connecting low-bandwidth devices like outdoor security cameras and smart TVs

What we don't like about Netgear EX2800

  • Lacks a physical Ethernet port, preventing use as a wired access point
  • Speeds are limited to AC750, which may be too slow for high-demand tasks like 4K streaming or heavy gaming
  • Inconsistent connection stability reported by some users, including occasional signal drops or resets
  • Limited advanced features; lacks MU-MIMO, beamforming, and mesh networking capabilities
  • Built-in LED indicators can be bright and cannot be turned off through settings
  • Internal antennas are not adjustable, limiting the ability to fine-tune signal reception

Verdict

The Netgear EX2800 is a compact, wall-plug AC750 dual-band WiFi range extender designed to eliminate dead zones by providing up to 750Mbps performance and covering up to 1,200 square feet. It features 802.11ac technology, FastLaneâ„¢ technology for high-speed streaming and gaming, and universal compatibility with any standard router. Its main pros include an extremely easy one-button WPS setup, a discreet design that doesn't block adjacent outlets, and exceptionally low power consumption (approximately 1 watt). However, it lacks an Ethernet port for wired connections, has non-adjustable internal antennas, and its status LEDs cannot be turned off, which may be bothersome in dark rooms.
