What we like about CHERRY UM 6.0 Advanced

  • Excellent, high-quality audio capture for streaming, podcasting, and home office use
  • Plug-and-play functionality requires no dedicated software installation
  • Two directional polar patterns (cardioid and omnidirectional) for versatile recording
  • Highly convenient hardware controls including a touch-mute button and gain adjustment
  • Solid metal tripod base with an integrated vibration damper/shock mount
  • Zero-latency headphone jack with integrated volume control on the device

What we don't like about CHERRY UM 6.0 Advanced

  • The built-in shock mount uses somewhat loose elastic cords, which can cause the microphone to tilt out of position easily
  • The build of the microphone body can feel a bit light or plasticky compared to higher-end competitors
  • No dedicated proprietary software available for deep/advanced sound adjustments

Verdict

The CHERRY UM 6.0 ADVANCED is a high-resolution USB-C condenser microphone featuring two 14mm capsules that deliver 24-bit/96kHz studio-grade audio across a 20Hz–20kHz frequency range. Designed for streamers and professionals, it offers switchable cardioid and omnidirectional polar patterns, a 120 dB max SPL, and integrated hardware controls including a front-mounted gain dial, a rear headphone volume wheel, and a top-facing touch-to-mute sensor with a red LED indicator. Its robust build includes a solid metal tripod stand and a distinctive red shock mount system to isolate vibrations, while providing zero-latency monitoring via a 3.5mm jack. Main pros include its premium matte silver metal construction, versatile dual-pattern recording, and convenient plug-and-play compatibility with PC, Mac, and consoles; however, potential cons include its lack of internal pop filtering and reported issues with the shock mount's rubber bands occasionally slipping out of place.
