The Logitech G512 Carbon is a high-quality, sleek mechanical gaming keyboard built with an aircraft-grade aluminium chassis, matte black keys, a thick 6-foot braided cable, and a integrated USB pass-through port. Retailing at $99.99, it offers three Logitech-exclusive switch variations: the Romer-G Tactile, Romer-G Linear, and the clicky GX Blue keys. Performance-wise, the keyboard is highly responsive, durable, and features exceptionally vibrant, customizable per-key RGB lighting with 16.8 million colours and pre-programmed animations like the "Star Effect" via the Logitech G software. However, the reviewer highlights a few drawbacks, noting that the media keys are frustratingly not backlit, making them difficult to locate in the dark. The lack of an included wrist rest also impacts ergonomics, which can lead to initial finger fatigue for users transitioning from a standard membrane keyboard. Despite these minor omissions, the G512 Carbon earns a strong 4.5 out of 5 rating for delivering exactly what it advertises: a solid, minimalist, and affordable mechanical keyboard option.

The review highlights strong pros, noting that the keyboard delivers flawless key activation, a highly robust construction, and wide non-slip risers that ensure a stable footing during intense gaming. The deep customisation options for key assignment, macros, and peripheral synchronisation via G-HUB are also heavily praised. However, the product has a few notable cons, including a standard, non-braided cable and a dual-USB connection that requires two ports to utilize the passthrough feature. The G-HUB companion software can also be sluggish when launching at startup and proves somewhat tricky to install, though the overall verdict remains that this keyboard is an exceptional value that is hard to beat. Additional pros include advanced gaming features like customizable per-key RGB backlighting via the Lightsync application, a convenient rear USB pass-through port for phone charging, 26-key rollover, robust anti-ghosting, and programmable macros. The Logitech G512 Special Edition is a full-size, wired mechanical gaming keyboard featuring a robust aluminum-magnesium alloy top plate and per-key RGB backlighting, delivering a light and responsive typing experience. It offers a dedicated USB 2.0 pass-through port, though it lacks a wrist rest and utilizes a non-detachable, thick braided cable. Key constraints include the loud, clicky GX Blue switches and restricted macro-programming to only the F-keys, making it less versatile than some competitors. Additionally, software customization through Logitech G HUB is limited to Windows and macOS, hindering Linux users, and the lack of a wrist rest may cause discomfort during extended gaming sessions.

The Logitech G512 Carbon is a compact, full-size mechanical gaming keyboard evaluated by IGN as a high-quality option that trims away the premium extras of the pricier G513 to achieve a competitive $100 price point. Built on a rock-solid aluminum top deck with a charcoal gray finish, the hardware features floating black keycaps and is available in three distinct proprietary switch types: Romer-G Linear, Romer-G Tactile, and the clicky GX Blue variants manufactured by Kailh. While testing the GX Blue switches during fast-paced sessions of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch, the reviewer noted the keys felt highly responsive and stable on the desk. This is reinforced by six robust rubber feet and an adjustable typing angle. Customization is handled via Logitech’s Gaming Software, allowing players to utilize LIGHTSYNC RGB profiles, assign per-key illumination colors, and program macros or activate a dedicated Game Mode to prevent accidental windows-key interruptions. The review highlights several distinct pros and cons regarding the keyboard's physical footprint and overall functionality. On the positive side, pros include its exceptional, premium build quality that avoids a "budget peripheral"...

The Logitech G512 Carbon is reviewed as a sturdy and minimally designed mechanical keyboard that seamlessly transitions between professional office tasks and dedicated gaming setups. Moving away from the loud, gaudy aesthetics typical of rival gaming brands, this model features a standard QWERTY layout housed in a plastic frame and topped with a sleek, darker brushed aluminum faceplate. The version tested features GX Blue mechanical switches, which deliver a heavy, highly satisfying tactile response and clear audio feedback that benefits both typing accuracy and gaming precision. Additionally, the keyboard supports full RGB under-lighting—customisable via proprietary software—and offers pre-configured, game-specific profiles for over 500 titles. Despite its high performance, the review highlights a few notable drawbacks to consider before purchasing. The prominent acoustic click of the GX Blue switches can generate a substantial amount of noise, potentially making it an annoying or disruptive option for shared corporate environments or small, close-quarters apartments. Furthermore, while the inclusion of a built-in USB pass-through port adds hardware flexibility, it relies on dated USB 2.0 technology. This older standard proves far too slow for transferring...

Major pros highlighted in the review include the sleek construction, a tight and user-friendly software interface for macro and RGB lighting customization, and a highly convenient built-in USB 2.0 pass-through connector located in the top-right corner. The specific review unit featured the GX Blue switches, which the reviewer praised for delivering a satisfying tactile bump that appeals heavily to typists and select gamers, while managing to sound slightly quieter than traditional Cherry MX Blue switches. Despite the overall praise, the reviewer noted a few cons centered entirely around missing layout preferences found on bulkier alternative models like the Logitech Orion...

On the positive side, the author highlights a few practical pros that make it a decent alternative to competitor brands. A major benefit of Logitech's G Hub software is that it does not require an account login, protecting users from hardware lockout errors that frequently plague Razer users when servers or software configurations fail. The reviewer also notes a helpful "Game Mode" toggled via Fn+F8, which temporarily disables the problematic Windows, Fn, and right-click context keys to prevent accidental presses during gameplay. Ultimately, despite its major aesthetic blunders and reliance on permanent backlighting, the author concludes that the peripheral serves as a functional replacement keyboard.
